The Wrestling Society Xperience - WSXtra Episode Seven (3/14/07)
Featuring the bling ladder, the bling table, and Ricky Banderas haunting Youth Suicide.
WSXtra - Episode Seven
Good day!
In the cold open, we catch a glimpse of Lacey poring over her notes when Arik Cannon strolls by. She stops the Kool-Aid Man and asks him about the backup he had in store for The Cartel on the main show. Cannon remains secretive, but The Cartel won’t know know what hit them.
Lacey and Fabian Kaelin, looking more ridiculous by the day, throw it to highlights of the Los Pochos Guapos vs. The Filth & The Fury match from the main show. Again, this is nearly the entire match. All the clip reels tend to be like that on this show.
Alkatrazz & Luke Hawx vs. Keepin’ It Gangsta
This is a rematch from WSXtra Episode 5 where Hawx and Trazz won via nefarious means. Ruckus and Babi Slymm not only arrive with the bling ladder, but a blinged-out table!
It’s a four-way fracas to start, ending with the two big fellas hossing it out in the ring while Ruckus lands a ridiculous series of handsprings culminating in a moonsault onto Hawx on the floor. Slymm Cactus-clotheslines himself and Alkaline Trio onto the floor while the two juniors resume their battle in the ring. Hawx catches a Razzle Dazzle attempt with a half-nelson suplex, then hits a springboard moonsault for a near-fall. Slymm comes in and assaults Hawx until Trazz slingshots in (barely) with a shoulderblock.
Moments later, Alfred Katrazz gets an Undertaker-like ropewalk into a DDT! Ruckus breaks up the pin with a standing shooting star press, because it’s a very Ruckus thing to do. It breaks down again until we get Slymm nearly bisecting Alkatrazz with a spear. Slymm hits a massive Black Hole slam on Hawx, and it’s PLUNDER TIME!
Hawx is placed on the table, and Ruckus hits a BIG double-stomp off the ladder through the table! Slymm hits a dancing elbow and covers for the pin.
The Take: Kind of a messy match, but not without a couple of neat spots. Slymm is generally kind of slow and clumsy, but that spear he hit was really solid. Ruckus is really fun to watch, even if his stuff can be a bit too excessive even in THIS setting. I don’t exactly jump out of my skin with excitement when I see Hawx & Alkali Flatzz , but they're not a bad lower-card team in a decent tag division. I did enjoy the big and small vs. big and small dynamic, too.
The Vibes: Mild, but present.
We get highlights of the super-fun Human Tornado vs. Matt Sydal match from earlier in the night, then revisit the crappy Cartel vs. Arik Cannon & Vic Grimes contest.
Scorpio Sky vs. Youth Suicide
Good to see that Youth Suicide recovered from getting hurled off a balcony into explosive tables by Ricky Banderas. This is his first match non-Rumble match in the promotion.
Suicide slides into the ring and is immediately beset by Sky, who punishes his injured back. Sky hits a big backbreaker for a near-fall, but Youth fights back and counters a Sky Stinger splash with boots. Youth mounts an offense with white-meat babyface moves and dodges a Sky dropkick. He catapults Sky out of the ring, but Ricky Banderas comes out and spears the crap out of Youth.
The ref throws the match out as Banderas continues to beat Youth from pillar to post, then out of sight. We get highlights of the fight resuming on the stage after Quietdrive finishes their set.
The Take: Not much of a match here, but it’s interesting seeing a bit of actual in-ring psychology with Sky working over the injured back. Youth’s selling wasn’t bad, but his comeback was rather bland, and his look could not BE any more mid-2000s indie, and not necessarily in a good way. It feels like they’re trying to make him into WSX’s version of Mikey Whipwreck, but Mikey was so much better at portraying the underdog.
The Vibes: Somewhat tepid.
Lacey and Kaelin run down what’s on deck for the next episode of WSX, then we end with Los Pochos Guapos heading out of the building, only to get blindsided by The Cartel. Kaos and Aguilera get hurled onto cars, then El Jefe leaves a dead fish on Aguilera.
It was rumored that Aguilera, formerly known as “Jesus” in WWE, was able to turn that fish into a meal that fed thousands.
NEXT TIME: Vampiro defends his WSX Championship for the first time against Ricky Banderas, and musical guest PITBULL!
