The Wrestling Society Xperience - WSXtra Episode Five (3/13/07)
Tag team action and...well, not a whole lot else.
WSXtra - Episode Five
Good day!
Much like how most of the rest of the TV episodes were relegated to a late-night marathon on Music Television, the remaining WSXtra episodes were all dumped onto MTV.com around the same time. This made it pretty much impossible for fans watching at the time to follow everything in sequence. Thankfully, the DVD has a handy-dandy marathon mode that plays everything in order.
Lacey and Fabian Kaelin recap the Ricky Banderas backstory and throw it to highlights of 6-Pac vs. Human Tornado. By “highlights”, I mean “nearly the entire two-minute match”.
As an aside, you ever think Kevin Kleinrock was ever tempted to have Paul Diamond reprise his Orient Express WWF gimmick and pair him with Fabian to form “Kato Kaelin”?
We now get highlights of the NXT 2.0-esque fuckery that was Arik Cannon vs. Delikado. Again, almost the entire match and post-match was shown.
Los Pochos Guapos vs. Trailer Park Boyz
We get purple and bright orange gear for Los Pochos today. Aaron Aguilera in particular looks like he stole Goku’s pants.
We get a bit of dissension within Los Pochos as usual, but it’s also teased within the Trailer Park Boyz after the electrocution business from Episode Three of the main show. Nate Webb isn’t happy that Josh Raymond didn’t save him from getting zapped.
Jug tries wrestling Jesus down, but Aguilera’s just too darn big. Aguilera uses his size to dominate until Raymond gets some kicks…only to run into a big boot. Spyder and Kaos tag in, with Nate quickly dispatching Kaos to the floor. Aguilera gives his partner the business, allowing Webb to leap over him and onto Kaos with a somersault plancha!
“White Trash” Johnny Webb goes to clock Kaos with, I dunno, some sort of bottle, but Kaos ducks, causing Johnny to hit “nephew” Nate instead! The fickle hand of irony strikes again! Back in, Los Pochos hit a big double-team spinebuster on Nate.
Assisted elbowdrop gets two, then Aguilera continues to have his way until Webb escapes and it’s HOT TAG JUG! Raymond flies in with a missile dropkick and hits a springboard back kick on Kaos. Raymond gets a running knee and a neckbreaker for two, then goes for a wheelbarrow bulldog…but Aguilera catches him, allowing Kaos to necksnap him on the ropes. Aguilera holds on and hits a wheelbarrow facebuster for the pin!
The Take: Another really fun match; the best Aguilera and Kaos looked so far. Even though this was more of a showcase for Los Pochos, the TPB continue to be a highlight of whatever show they’re on. They excel at making their opponents look good.
The Vibes: Fairly strong.
Keepin’ It Gangsta vs. Luke Hawx & Alkatrazz
This was set up after both teams got into a backstage kerfuffle on last week’s WSXtra. Hey, it’s current AEW referee (for better or worse) Rick Knox!
Luke Hawx and Ruckus kick things off, with Ruckus quickly sustaining a flurry of Hawx offense and hitting a handspring flippy kick and a headscissors. Babi Slymm tags in and we get some double-teams, ending with a dancing elbow from Slymm for two. After a moment, Hawx slingshots Alkatrazz in with a shoulderblock, Jim Neidhart-style. Big Al then catches Ruckus off a crossbody and tosses him over his head, like a fallaway slam without the fallaway. Hawx and Alkatrazz then hit a double-team facebuster for another near-fall.
Ruckus soon comes back with a standing shooting star press, but Albert Katrazz comes in to break up the pin, then just wrecks Slymm with a clothesline. Hawx hits a flying corner dropkick as everything breaks down. Slymm comes in and clobbers both opponents down, but is ejected after Hawx dodges a dancing charge.
After some back-and-forth, Ruckus hits a Pele kick onto Hawx on the apron and tries to suplex him back in. However, we get the Warrior/Rude WrestleMania V finish with Alkatrazz tripping Ruckus and holding his legs down as Hawx covers for the pin!
The Take: Not as enjoyable as the first match as this was a bit clumsier when Slymm was in there, and it just didn't do much for me overall. Trazz got to look like a bit of a beast, though.
It’s interesting that, for a promotion that regularly features electrocutions, explosions, and dunking guys’ heads in wet cement, we get a classic cheating heel finish here.
The Vibes: Somewhat feeble.
After Fabian and Lacey run down next week’s WSX line-up, we cut to Jibbs backstage dicking around on his phone. Ruckus and Babi Slymm walk in, and they discuss chains and whether or not they are hung low.
NEXT TIME: Jack Evans vs. Scorpio Sky! That 70’s Team vs. D.I.F.H.! Musical guest Good Charlotte!
